Migration · Shopify → Framer
Leave Shopify behind. Protect your rankings.
Brand and campaign pages move to Framer; your store stays untouched on Shopify. Best of both, linked seamlessly.

The SEO-preserving method
01 — Map
Full URL inventory and 301 redirect map before anything is built. Every page accounted for.
02 — Parity
Metadata, schema, and analytics carried over exactly — plus a redesign where the data says it pays.
03 — Prove
Pre/post crawl comparison and Search Console monitoring after launch, so any movement is caught early.
THE PIPELINE
This one is a split, not a migration.
Shopify should keep your commerce. It is genuinely excellent at catalogue, checkout, payments and tax — and nothing is gained by moving that. What moves is the marketing surface: homepage, brand story, landing pages, editorial. Framer runs those better; Shopify runs the transaction.
01
Draw the line
Decide precisely which pages are marketing and which are commerce. This decision drives everything else.
02
Choose the architecture
Framer on the root domain with Shopify on a subdomain, or the reverse. Each has SEO consequences.
03
Build
04
Connect
Navigation, cart entry points and tracking wired so the handoff feels seamless to the visitor.
05
Verify
Redirects, analytics continuity and crawl comparison across both properties.
HONEST SCOPE
What moves to Framer — and what must not.
The most common mistake here is trying to move too much. Framer is not a commerce platform, and pretending otherwise creates a worse store and a fragile setup.
Moves to Framer
Homepage and brand storytelling
Campaign and paid-traffic landing pages
Editorial content and the blog
About, contact and company pages
Anything where design flexibility matters more than commerce logic
Stays on Shopify
Product pages, collections and search
Cart, checkout, payments and tax
Inventory, fulfilment and order management
Customer accounts and order history
Apps handling subscriptions, reviews or loyalty
RISK
What to get right in a hybrid setup.
A split architecture works well when the boundary is deliberate. These are the four decisions that determine whether it does.
Subdomain versus subdirectory
Putting the store on shop.yourdomain.com is simpler to implement but splits authority across two hosts. It is a real SEO tradeoff and should be a decision, not a default.
Analytics continuity across the boundary
A visitor crossing from Framer to Shopify can break session attribution, making paid campaigns look worse than they are. Cross-domain tracking has to be configured deliberately.
Duplicate or conflicting content
If both properties describe the same products, they compete. Canonical tags and a clear content boundary prevent it.
Visual discontinuity at handoff
If the Shopify side looks nothing like the Framer side, trust drops exactly at the moment of purchase. The theme needs aligning to the brand system.

A hybrid build is quoted on the marketing pages only — the Shopify side is left alone unless theme alignment is in scope. Discovery call first, fixed quote before kickoff.
SEE IT DONE
Goodbuy Stuff runs a marketplace brand presence built in Framer, with the transactional layer kept separate. The case study covers why a commerce platform was the wrong tool for that job.
